Volcano Updates4.0.1 - App Store

Get daily news and information about recent volcanic activity from three different news sources. First, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Volcano Hazards Program. Each Volcano Activity Report includes an assigned alert level and aviation color code as issued by the USGS, as well as details regarding current activity. Volcano Updates typically contain detailed information on the active Hawaiian and Alaska Volcanoes, as well as any new activity at Yosemite. If something is going on, the USGS update will appear here.

New for Volcano Updates, support for New Zealand by way of GeoNet news feed. GeoNet is a collaboration between the New Zealand Earthquake Commission and GNS Science.

The Smithsonian Weekly Volcanic Activity Report is a cooperative project between the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program and the USGS's Volcano Hazards Program. Updated every Wednesday, It contains reports for volcanoes with new activity as well as reports for continually monitored volcanoes around the world. While not a comprehensive list of all volcanoes erupting during the week, it is a concise summary of certain volcanoes around the globe.

- Post to Facebook 2.0 08/01/2014 Implemented a secondary method for downloading updates. Things should work much smoother now, even if the main data feed is down. 1.1 04/11/2013 The following issues have been fixed with the 1.0.1 release:

- Sometimes with a slow connection the wrong update could be shown on the detail page.
- If a low memory warning was received while on the Icon Legend screen, the app would crash after transitioning back to the detail screen.
- Under iOS 4.3.5, the detail screen contained invalid data the first time it was viewed.
- Under low memory conditions, the activity indicator might show on the main screen as though it was auto-updating when in actuality it was not.

The following minor improvements were also made with the 1.0.1 release:
- Improved error messages when bad XML was returned from the USGS servers.
- The date format displayed on the detail page has been simplified.
- Changed auto refresh of data from 3 hours to 8 hours.
